Emmy 2020, tutti i Vincitori

Nella serata di domenica 20 settembre, la ABC The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences ha annunciato i vincitori della 72a edizione degli Emmy Awards. A causa dell'emergenza sanitaria da covid-19, la cerimonia non si è svolta, come di consuetudine, al Microsoft Theatre di Los Angeles, in presenza dei candidati e del pubblico, ma i vari nominati si sono collegati in streaming con il conduttore Jimmy Kimmel, in uno spettacolo d'intrattenimento mai visto nella storia degli Emmy Awards. La cerimonia è stata trasmessa negli Stati Uniti da ABC, in Italia da Rai4. Hanno fatto apparizioni speciali durante la trasmissione Anthony Anderson, Jason Bateman, Sterling K.Brown, Laverne Cox, D-Nice, America Ferrera, Morgan Freeman, Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Randall Park, Issa Rae, RuPaul, e Patrick Stewart. 

Assegnati ogni anno dalla Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, i Primetime Emmy Awards sono il più importante riconoscimento americano e internazionale alla produzione seriale televisiva. Un appuntamento storico, che ha consacrato e celebrato, nel corso dei decenni, il meglio dell'industria televisiva a stelle e strisce: dai telefilm classici in bianco e nero, alla nuova età dell'oro della serialità, dell'ultimo quarto di secolo.

Le nomination erano state annunciate il 28 luglio 2020 da Leslie Jones, Laverne Cox, Josh Gad e Tatiana Maslany. Quest'anno la classifica delle nomination è stata guidata con 11 candidature da Watchmen, la serie drama HBO tratta dal graphic novel di Alan Moore. A seguire, rispettivamente con dieci e nove nomination, il dramma familiare Succession e il thriller, con Jason Bateman e Laura Linney, Ozark.

La sitcom canadese Schitt's Creek (Pop TV) è diventata la prima serie comica a vincere in tutte le principali categorie in un solo anno, nonché la prima serie comica o drammatica a vincere tutti e sette i premi principali in un solo anno. 7 i premi che si è portato a casa lo spettacolo diventato la commedia più premiata in un solo anno. Seguono, nella classifica degli show più premiati, il dramma della HBO Succession (HBO) e la serie limitata Watchmen (HBO) che hanno vinto quattro premi ciascuno. Guardando i network più premiati, HBO si è portata a casa 11 premi, Pop TV 7 (solo grazie a Schitt's Creek) e Netflix 2 premi (a Julia Garner in Ozark e per Unorthodox).
