TRAMA

Una dipendente universitaria, Caroline Pereira, viene uccisa. Benson e Stabler hanno tante ipotesi su cui lavorare: è stata la sua coinquilina? Un vecchio amico?

Off the tip of a local prostitute, SVU discovers the body of a young girl in a shady alley leading them to believe the victim, Caroline Pereira, must have paid her tuition by working the street. Stabler and Fin question roommate Gloria as she sports an expensive diamond ring as well as longtime friend Adam who connect the victim to a wealthy football star and a major university cheating operation. The ring, originally lost by NFL star Roddy Franklin to the victim in a poker game, somehow ends up on Gloria's finger, but Franklin and Gloria's alibis both check out. Stabler investigates into an underground poker ring discovering hat Caroline and Adam each had ties to a local game, and when SVU pins the university cheating operation and possible blackmailing of Adam on Caroline, they quickly zone in on Adam as the suspect. After a brief interrogation, SVU has enough on Adam to arrest his for second-degree murder. In court, Novak goes straight at the defendant by gathering testimony from students including University Card Club President Glen regarding Adam indebtedness and gambling addition, but the choice comes back to haunt Novak when defense attorney Camp uses Adam's gambling addition to support an insanity plea. Going off a hunch from Stabler, Novak is able to turn the tides by tying Adam to Gloria, his love interest, and uses the ring Gloria wore as evidence of premeditation. Adam is convicted of second-degree murder.
