TRAMA

Il cadavere di un neonato e di una donna, un accordo per vendere il bambino a una coppia: questi i punti chiave del caso che Benson e Stabler devono affrontare.

A newborn baby is found dead in a storm drain. Various leads facilitate the SVU team finding the mother, also dead, in a nearby apartment. When the ME rules the woman's death a homicide, the detectives continue their investigation. The evidence trail leads them to a couple who had planned to adopt the baby. Benson and Stabler are immediately suspicious of the husband once they catch him in a number of lies. Their focus changes, however, when they learn the victim was very interested in the books published by a local medical doctor. They confront the doctor, and he consents to a DNA test. In a surprise twist, the DNA clears him of paternity, but incriminates him in a series of child sexual assaults. They arrest the doctor and begin a case against him for the previous rapes. The plot thickens once the doctor is murdered while out on bail and a child, matching the m.o.of his earlier attacks disappears. An autopsy of the doctor reveals that he had implanted a vial of someone's else's blood in his arm. He did this to cover up the fact that he indeed was the father of the dead newborn, and that he indeed did murder its mother. Once this is established, the detectives set out to find the missing child and the true pedophile, a patient of the dead doctor, who murdered him in the hopes of using him as a red herring for his numerous sexual assaults.
