TRAMA

Una bambina è stata rapita. Analizzando le tracce di sangue lasciate sul luogo, la scientifica scopre che la bambina soffre di leucemia.

Stabler faces a difficult child abduction case when 8 year-old Carly Hunter is pulled into a van by a lone man in a Halloween mask. Carly's parents, Jake and Pamela, are distraught by their daughter's disappearance, but when DNA blood samples taken from the crime scene indicate she has early stage leukemia, the parents insist on meeting the kidnapper's ransom demands. With a close eye on Jake, Pamela, and Medical Examiner Dr. Warner, the kidnapper requests $300K to be delivered alone by Dr. Warner near a warehouse at the docks, but just as Stabler is ready to spring out of the trunk to catch their culprit, a property security guard flashes lights in the kidnapper's direction and he flees with Carly. Forensics evidence taken from the docks leads Stabler and Cragen to a salt company storeroom where they break in and find Carly alone and passed out on the floor with an apparent overdose of cold medicine. After receiving medical treatment, Carly describes the kidnapper and it becomes clear that the young man is the Hunters? disowned drug addict son. Stabler and Dr. Warner head to the bank where Jake works, but their conversation is stopped short when foiled kidnapper Daniel Hunter storms in high as a kite and threatens to shoot the place up if he doesn?t get the money to pay his dealer. Stabler persuades Daniel to let all hostages but Stabler, Dr. Warner, and estranged father Jake to go, but when a flurry of shots results in a chest wound to Jake, Daniel loses it. Just as Daniel readies for a kamikaze rampage into a crowd of police, Dr. Warner saves Daniel's and probably several others? lives by shooting him down from behind.
