TRAMA

Con l'addio dell'agente Blake, la squadra di profiler guidata dall'agente speciale Hotchner ha bisogno di un nuovo elemento: la scelta cadrà su una vecchia conoscenza del BAU, Kate Callahan, interpretata da Jennifer Love Hewitt.

It's a hot day in Bakersfield, California. But the stench isn't from the heat. On an afternoon adventure, a young boy stumbles upon something he can't un-see, the rotting torso of an unnamed victim. It's the third torso found in the LA area this month. A killer is on the loose. And the FBI's' Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) is determined to find him. First, the team must welcome their new member, Kate Callahan (Jennifer Love Hewitt). She's taken down deviants before and she doesn't mind a few battle scars, so she'll fit right in. Their first suspect is a seemingly cookie-cutter Dad in a suburban neighborhood. They traced their clues to the Dad when they found he was buying a heap of chemicals to preserve dead bodies. Low and behold, when they stop the Dad in his car, they find several severed limbs in the trunk. It looks like they found their killer. But during questioning, they find that while the Dad is definitely sick, he's not a murderer. He's been buying the limbs off decrepit sites on the Internet for his own perverse gratification. With this new information, the BAU tracks down their next suspect, a biology professor on sabbatical. But after examining his apartment and finding pictures of him with a unique tattoo, they discover that the professor wasn't the murderer, he was one of the victims. Finally, they land at their real killer, a loner so desperate to connect, he abducts women off the street and slices them up, limb by limb. His current victim lies on a table. He's already cut off her arm, but he hasn't killed her yet, mostly because she keeps talking to him. Calmly. As if she likes him. This kill has her wits about her. And it's her quick thinking that convinces the killer to let her loose for a "walk" when she takes the opportunity to grab a knife and run for her life. Rossi and the crew find her running out into the street. Finally, she's escaped and is in safe hands. Hotchner, Jennifer and the "new kid," Kate Callahan, draw guns and barge into the killer's dark lair. In an instant, the killer grabs Kate, dragging her down to the ground to be his next victim. But Hotchner is too quick. He shoots the killer dead, saving Kate and giving her some more battle scars to remember.
