Roy started her acting career in theatre and musicals. Her big break came with the lead role in the television series based on the best-selling book Au Nom du Pere et du Fils and the sequel, Le Sorcier. At an early age, she worked with Oscar-winner Denys Arcand, Bruce McDonald and Richard Ciupka. After an incredibly successful, four year run as the controversial Marie-Claude in Radio-Canada's popular prime-time soap Virginie, she played "Sonia" in the Golden Reel winner LES BOYS, making Roy a Quebec Star. Perfectly bilingual, Roy was soon offered projects in English Canada. She received nationwide attention for her role as the Intelligence Gathering Officer, 'Jennifer Mackenzie' in THE LAST CHAPTER I-II earning Roy a Gemini nomination as Canada's Hottest Star! Her work then crossed the border in the television series, MISGUIDED ANGELS for Fox Family. From Nastassja Kinski to James Woods to Armand Assante to Isabella Rossellini to Colm Feore, her list of co-stars is as long and diversified as her filmography. Roy's versatility enables her to play characters that are both colorful and memorable. Roy starred as 'Caroline Morrison' opposite Peter Outerbridge in the award-winning, internationally renowned series ReGENESIS for two seasons and as 'Mickey Bell', in the Gemini award-winning mini-series, WOULD BE KINGS. She starred in INFECTED with Gil Bellows, in MVP (the Secret Lives of Hockey Wives) on ABC; in the BBC mini-series, SUPERSTORM; a recurring role in SOPHIE PARKER for CBC; and Fight Surgeon 'Claire Dereux', in the international series, DEFYING GRAVITY (ABC, CTV, BBC and ProSieben). In 2009, Roy was nominated for a Jutra for best supporting actress in the indie-film, ADAM'S WALL. That year, she lit up the silver screen in four feature films: alongside French Star Sandrine Kiberlain in the comedy, ROMAINE PAR-30; in the critically acclaimed indie BLIND SPOT, generating rave reviews for her performance; in Robert Ménard's drama STAY WITH ME; the Yves Simoneau comedy, THE BAIT and appearing alongside John Cusack in THE FACTORY. Roy also has a recurring role in the CBC series HEARTLAND and has 4 Gemeaux nominations for Best Actress for her lead role in the hit Quebec television series entitled O'. After starring with Matthew Modine in the Sonart mini-series CAT. 8, Roy's next role was as 'Isabelle Latendresse' in the Bravo police drama 19-2. In 2015, the show was nominated for ten CSAs including "Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Program or Series" for Roy. Roy also currently stars in the Freeform/Netflix hit series SHADOWHUNTERS. Roy also guest starred in the CBC series THIS LIFE. She shot the hit mini-series for CityTV and FX, BAD BLOOD, with Anthony Lapaglia and Kim Coates, earning her a CSA nomination for Best Lead Actress. It is currently one of the most popular series streaming on Netflix. Recently Roy appeared in the feature ALLURE, produced by the award winning and Oscar-nominated producers Luc Dery and Kim McCraw, working alongside Evan-Rachel Wood. At TIFF this past season, she starred in the film from Oscar-winning Denys Arcand, THE FALL OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE and most recently shot a recurring role in CBS's BLOOD & TREASURE, as well as a key role in Netflix's highly-anticipated OCTOBER FACTION. Maxim Roy was named by StarTV as one of Canada's 25 Most Beautiful Stars and the paper ICI Montreal named Roy the Sexiest and Most Popular actress. In her free time, Roy: is a godmother to the organization ANEB, a non-profit that fights anorexia-bulimia; has been a member of Greenpeace for 14 years; and devoted 15 years to Declic, a non-profit organization that brings kids back to school. She supports anything and everything 'environmentally friendly' and has recently lent her voice to World Vision, with whom she will travel in the near future to raise money for children living in poverty.
